My MAC Lipstick Collection

MAC Lipstick Collection, Swatches

MAC Lipstick Collection, Swatches

MAC Lipstick Collection, Swatches

MAC lipsticks, the secret to many flawless lips. I think it's fairly safe to say that almost every beauty blogger will have heard, seen or owned a MAC lipstick at some point in their beauty driven life. Whether you own one, two or more its easy to see why these black bullets of colourful goodness have a safe place in our hearts. I hold my hands up and admit that my collection may not be the biggest, a small number of only 7 infact, but I don't plan on stopping there.

I decided that I couldn't hold off writing a post about these beauties any longer, I for one happen to adore reading peoples posts about their collections as it helps feed my need for more (my boyfriend see's this as a bad thing - I however don't ) In addition, I like being able to see what different colours look like on a variety of skin tones. Get your pens at the ready, you list needs these added.

MAC Lipstick Collection, Swatches

L-R: Rebel, All fired up, Impassioned, MAC Red, ROXO(LE), RiRi Woo (LE), RiRi Pleasure Bomb (LE)

Rebel | Shade - Plum with blue Berry undertones                | Finish - Satin
Rebel is easily my most worn lipstick as soon as the weather starts to turn cooler. The deep plum shade can look awfully scary in the bullet but once swatched the beautiful blue toned purple really makes yours lips pop. I for one, wear this on a daily basis during Autumn and Winter, dressed down with a floppy hat, jumper and jeans or up for a night on the town.

All Fired up | Shade -  Bright fuchsia red               | Finish - Retro Matte
A bright reddish-fuchsia lipstick, a warm fuchsia that doesn't have strong blue undertones to it. It is fully matte, so can be unforgiving on the lips but if you prep your lips the night before then I promise you that you wont regret it.

Impassioned | Shade - Bright pink with slight orange undertones   | Finish - Amplified
Impassioned is the perfect combination of pink and coral. It is my go to summer lipstick, flattering any outfit and completing a simple make up look or even for a night out of cocktails. I really recommend checking this lipstick out if you're wanting something more then just a pink but don't feel you can pull off an in your face coral.

MAC Red | Shade - Classic Red                | Finish - Satin
Looking for a timeless and classical red that isn't too blue toned? Say hello to this beauty, an easy to wear red that isn't too in your face. I love the way this looks during the winter months when I want a slightly subtle red lip, but without it looking too orange. Its an every day red that flatters all skin tones and whenever I wear it I cant help but feel a little like Marilyn Monroe (don't tell anyone!)

ROXO (LE) | Shade - Dark brown/burgundy red                | Finish - Amplified
This colour is either a love or hate shade, for me it's defiantly a love. Its unlike anything else that I own and I love the way It vamps up my look. I am not sure how much I'll wear it during winter, but I know for Autumn it will take pride of place in my travel make up bag.

RiRi Woo (LE)| Shade -   Cool, blue toned red              | Finish - Retro Matte
A strong cool, blue undertoned Red, the kind of red that truly does make your teeth appear whiter. When I wear this lipstick it reminds me of old school Hollywood glam,
its the kind of lipstick that makes me feel a million pounds.

RiRi Pleasure Bomb (LE)| Shade -    Blue based fuchsia             | Finish - Retro Matte
One of my favourite lipsticks EVER, a vibrant and vivid blue based fuchsia with slight red undertones. A shade that suits my olive skin tone yet doesn't wash me out. It is fairly similar to All Fired Up but I would say that this is slightly less red based. Despite being a matte formula, this is not as drying as it may seem, upon application it glides on smoothly and gives a creamy sheen to the lips which takes 2-3 minutes to settle into a matte finish.

Leave me a comment below if you think you'll end up purchasing any of these beauties?

Leopard Lover; Hit or Miss?

Hello my pretty petals,

Ive always secretly loved a bit of animal print but subtle hints of course. This year I was delighted to see leopard print sneaking it's way into the stores and standing strong in many a shop window display. I couldn't help but purchase a few bits as pay day rolled around. The pieces I bought are all transitional pieces that will see me through A/W and well into sprint eventually too! I'm thinking of doing a styling post showing how I would wear them, so let me know if you would like to see that.

Jumper - H&M - £14.99               | Snood - Forever21-£5            | Pumps - Primark - £4 (Bargain!)

So, I urge you to keep an eye out for animal print this year, I am predicting big things. If you have time look instore or online at H&M and Forever21, they defiantly know a hit when they see it.

What do you think, hit or miss? xox

September Lists

Hellooo my pretty petals,

Oh 2014 you are rushing by so quickly, after a glorious 6 weeks off It is officially the start of a new term at work. The smell of new shoes walking through the door, the new school bags and the battle of who has the coolest new pencil cases. I love my job for all its quirks.

I saw over on the lovely Louise's blog that she wrote a September post where she wrote one of her famous lists which expressed what she wanted to do in this lovely month and it got me thinking what would I like to do this month? So ta-dah! Here is what I have come up with so far.

__________

1. Baking. The smell of freshly baked anything is enough to make me hungry. I am determined to get some baking practice in before the madness of October arrives. I'm picturing fresh baked biscuits wrapped in pretty papers will make the cutest Christmas gifts for colleagues.

2. Sunday Bootsale. I want to go to another boot sale before they finish, I know It sounds lame but it reminds me of my childhood and I always find a hidden gem or two.

3. Hot chocolates. Perfect drink all year round when I have a sweet tooth, but as of September I can officially be naughty and top it with cream and a flake. I'm craving my first one of the year already!

4. Read. A bookshelf with books on is one of the most comforting things. The feel & the smell of a new fresh book. (I sound crazy now) but I miss reading, I read blogs everyday but I want to get lost in a story and feel ties to the characters. I have 4 unread books on my shelf and I am determined to read them by Christmas day. A challenge I happily accept.

5. Girls time. A day of shopping and countless "Do you like this?" is just glorious to me, simply going in a changing room and trying on silly outfits. Who said you and your best friend are ever too old to laugh out loud?

6. Nephew time. After a summer filled  with cheeky paddling pool madness and feeding them too many treats its safe to say I need more nephew time. They are forever making me giggle and I will never get tired of them saying "We love you Auntie Hannah" Can you hear my heart just burst.

7. Me time. I'm talking bubble baths, candles, books, magazines, painted nails, icecream and Gossip Girl. Need I say more?

8Home Décor. I have an unhealthy love with Pinterest and pinning my house ideas onto a board or two. My current project is the staircase and creating a collage of photo's and lovely things to make it feel more homely. A blog post may just be in order. Watch this space...

9Christmas Lists. Yes I said it, Christmas. With so many people to think about, its important I start early. Food list, card list, present list.  Believe it or not I've already started my present shopping but before you think I'm crazy, they've all been sale items and so far I have saved a huge £200!!!

10. Photographs. This month I intend on capturing the little things, all the moments that have captured my heart, made me smile or even made me laugh. These are the things I want to remember.

So that is that, my top 10 things to do in September, What do you want to do this month?

Phone Fashion

I feel like my phone is a part of me and as a result must always be well dressed. I wanted to show off this lovely little gem I found in a discounted store called Home Bargains. The case itself is very light in weight and is plastic rather then a soft silicone. The case is a beautiful lilac and features scattered pearls, gems and two copper and cream flowers. It's all that I wanted in a phone case, elegant but girly and the best part is the price, this case comes in at a minuscule price of £1.99!
I can't guarantee that all home bargain stores will stock these particular cases but I recommend next time you come across a store then have a browse. You never know that hidden gems you may find. I'm already eyeing up a mint green case with pearls, and for the price I can't resist.

What's your phone wearing at the moment?

Goodbye Alarm

Its Friday!

Fridays happen to be one of my favourite days of the week, and no not for the obvious reason of it being the start of the weekend, but because I love the students I work with on a Friday. They without fail, put a smile on my face and bring me constant laughs. So, since I'm in such a bright mood I thought I would treat you to a casual post, how has your week been?

This week I have been....

Writing lots of lists... I'm not sure if it is because Ive realised I am 21 this year and am feeling slightly old or if it is because I work in a school, but what I do know is that I have a notebook with the first 5pages containing nothing but lists. Somehow  lately I cant go 2days without making a list, whether it be a wish list, a house shopping list, or a 'To Do' list. Is that un-explainable satisfactory tick you do when you've completed something off the list that makes me feel good.

Lusting after... A 'classic' Ted Baker bag, I can't help but be a little bit in love with the classic Ted Baker tote bags. They are so wearable with any outfit and have plenty of room in them to fit everything a girl needs, I will own one this year!

Watching....  Hollyoaks, I've always been a huge fan of Hollyoaks but can appreciate it being a love or hate kind of thing. This week has been so dramatic, with twists and plots thickening here and there. I am well and truly sucked into the story lines at the moment.

Spending...oops!  I am fully aware that this is the wrong time for me to be spending money on myself but sometimes you just cant help a good bargain, and everyone deserves a treat once a month right?

Reading... I am the first to put my hand up and admit when the nights draw in and the weather turns colder there is nothing I love more then curling up with a good book. I become a book worm in the winter and can lose myself in the stories so easily. Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite authors and her new book 'How to fall in love' accidentally fell into my basket when I saw it in Tescos, I've had it a day and I am almost half way. Any book recommendations?

Craving... A hot chocolate with whipped cream, need I say more?

Trendy Trousers

I have always been a skirts or leggings kind of girl, but lately I have been drawn to quite a few pairs of trousers. River Island being one of the top shops that have had me pressing my nose up against the windows thinking of how many different outfits I could put together with one pair of statement trousers. There are so many different colours and patterns out there at the moment that I urge you to have a look and think outside the box. Who ever said trousers just had to be for work or school? Here are a few of my top picks all from River Island, I may or may not already own the polka dot and abstract black and white pair, oops.
